1. CineView presents Philomena this Wednesday

CineView Saskatchewan is pleased to present Philomena, nominated for Best Picture of the Year at this year's Academy Awards, Wednesday, February 12th at 7:30 PM at Galaxy Cinema. Philomena is directed by Stephen Frears, and stars Steve Coogan and Judi Dench (nominated for Best Actress). The film is based on the true story of an unmarried Irish Catholic woman, Philomena Lee (Judi Dench) who was forced by her community and the church to give up her newborn son in the 1950's. Decades later, she embarks on a search to find her son, with the aid of a BBC reporter, Martin Sixsmith (Steve Coogan). These two masters of their craft share a natural chemistry onscreen, and their wry humour lightens the film's more sombre moments. While revealing some of the darkest deeds of the Catholic Church, Philomena also reminds us of one of its greatest virtues: forgiveness.

Individual movie tickets will be available for $10 in the theatre lobby starting at 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Season pass holders are asked to show their passes at the CineView table to receive admission tickets for the movie.

The other two films coming this season are The Invisible Woman (March 5) and Burt's Buzz (April 16).
